Sukita Reay Crimmel is the visionary and fearless leader of Traditional Natural Plaster Company. She has muddied her hands with plasters and earthen floors since 2000. In 2002, she founded From These Hands, a natural building company located in Portland. In 2013, Sukita transferred her expertise and services to the Traditional Natural Plaster Company.
Sukita is also the developer of Claylin – the first commercially available ready-made earthen floor product in North America. Claylin is an award-winning product recognized by the Living Future Institute, Oregon BEST, and the Cleantec Open.
Sukita holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental studies and architecture from the University of Oregon. She is considered one of the preeminent experts in the emerging field of earthen floors and natural plasters.
Jorie Kennedy has focused on natural and alternative building since 2010 when she apprenticed at the Cob Cottage Company. Since then she has worked all over the west coast, Canada, and Mexico developing skills in cob, straw-bale, and lite straw-clay construction. She spread clay and lime plasters for Ion Eco-Building, Flying Hammer Productions, Living Walls Construction, and the Village Building Convergence and is happy to have found a home and great team at Traditional Natural Plaster Company.
Jorie graduated from the Evergreen State College with bachelors degrees in environmental justice and sculpture. She loves pugs, punk shows, Mexico, and Martha Stewart.
