Philosophy
First of all, we take great pride in making beautiful plaster walls and ceilings to create beautiful spaces, or in many cases complete them. Many people come to plaster for its elegance and beauty, some for its amazing ability to regulate humidity in homes and mitigate moisture problems in outdoor and wet room applications, others are attracted to plaster for environmental reasons. The materials we use have a low embodied energy, are nontoxic and are designed to last.
Meet the team
Josh Baeckel
Josh co founded Traditional Natural Plaster Company in 2005. You can find him working in the field practicing his craft, and overseeing TNPC projects. His eye for detail and passion for beautiful plaster surfaces ensures each project is completed to the highest standard. Outside of his work Josh spends much of his time outdoors, with his family, camping, boating, and foraging for wild mushrooms.
Sukita Crimmel
Sukita joined Traditional Natural Plaster Company in 2012. Putting over a decade of plastering, natural building and earthen floor installation to use, she oversees the scheduling, estimating and planning for the company and leads all our earthen floor projects. She wrote the book Earthen Floors: Modern Approach to an Ancient Practice published in 2014. She has a bachelor’s degree in in environmental science with a minor in architecture. Outside of her work, she spends her time raising her daughter, painting and storytelling.
